No matter whether you are seeking self-defense, better health, physical fitness or discipline, our Tang Soo Do can meet your needs. However, Tang Soo Do has its own unique character which differentiates it from any other form of martial arts or martial sports. Tang Soo Do not only teaches physical techniques but also trains us to practice it's way of life through practice of the five virtues; "IN" -humanity, "UI"-righteousness, "YIE"-etiquette, "JI"-wisdom and "SHIN"-trust. When we reach the ultimate level of "DO", we can live in perfect harmony with the laws of nature.
Although people generally select a martial arts school for reasons other than the martial arts style taught at the school (e.g., reputation, location, character-development emphasis, family focus) it's still good to have a general understanding of the styles of martial arts before beginning a search for the best school for you. Our style of martial arts training is called Tang Soo Do. Tang Soo Do is (60%) Korean Style and (40%) Chinese Style thus making it mostly Korean martial arts.
We obviously believe that Tang Soo Do is the best of the martial arts relative to the physical aspects. But what makes Starworld Academy of Tang Soo Do special is that our training goes far beyond the kick, the punch and the throw. We also place a strong emphasis on the personal development of our students.
While we are experts in teaching Tang Soo Do techniques, a large focus of our training is on developing the following personal attributes in our students: self-confidence, focus, discipline, fitness, healthy weight and self-esteem.
The development of these personal attributes is inherent within all martial arts but, at Starworld Academy of Tang Soo Do, we put a special emphasis on maximizing our student's potential in all aspects of their life.
